Abeekvallei

Abeek Valley is the exception in the National Park Plus areas.

The area straddles the Hoge Kempen and GrensPark Kempen~Broek. This is noticeable in the landscape that is especially characterized by the Abeek with its beautiful stream valley. The Abeek Valley is a nature reserve (Natuurpunt) spread across more than 180 ha. It is a fairly swampy area with forests, swamps and meadows. A lot of special animals and plants have their biotope here. A small herd of Galloway cattle help manage this area, which stretches across the municipalities of Peer and Meeuwen-Gruitrode.

There are four hiking trails mapped out from 4 to 9 km
